Ofcourse, when I try to do stuff on tumblr it’s like *DENY*. fml
GLEE - Pilot
We just had an advanced screening of GLEE here and it seems to be a very promising show.
I mean, obviously it’s taken a page out of the High School Musical Book, not just with the singing and dancing.
Big shot jock, torn between sports and music, add the queen bee of glee (a slightly more sincere version of Sharpay).
But it was great fun to watch, I loved how the background music would just be….don’t really know how to describe it. Just the glee doing a harmony, it was smart.
I think it’s good that they’re not just going to be focusing on the teens, obviously the teachers are going to have a significant role. I already love the cheerleaders coach, she’s funny.
I’m already rooting for the glee teacher (I don’t know ANY of their names yet soz) and the red head teacher from epic movie to get together, that’d be adorable, I can’t stand the guys wife.
I know it’s not the MOST original idea but I just have a feeling this is going to be a good show, something to look out for.
I’m really disappointed that I now have to wait 2 months until the ACTUAL series starts.

I ALMOST FORGOT!! Their performance of Don’t Stop Believin’ (A Personal Favourite of mine) was soooo good, they all have really unique voices and I reckon they’re gunna put on some great performances
Hannah Montana (Spoilers)
Alright. If i had to sum up the movie into one word it would be just that: Alright. It was exactly what you’d expect from a disney movie of this style, nothing more, nothing less. Although it appears the younger girls who were in the cinema with me thought it was the best thing on earth. It just seemed to be missing the regular HM charm you get in the show, I hate to say it but it was just rather dull drama, broken up by random splatterings of comedic slap-stick.
It seems like they were trying so hard to make this seem like “Hannah Montana’s coming of age”, where it was really just “Hannah Montana’s dead end teen drama”. It seemed whenever we were reaching a lighter or happier moment in the film they felt the need to insert a really “intense” scene which often resulted in:
Miley being told to grow up.
Miley crying
Miley telling us lifes a climb
For example, miley sung Hoedown Throwdown, it was a fun moment…untill grandma yelled at that old fella with the shopping mall display.
But, possibly the funniest and most “hannah montana” moment of the film was ruined by their serious moments. As Miley was running between a lobster dinner with the mayor, as Hannah, and having her first date with Travis, as Miley, you actually got a taste of the tv show’s comedy. Not to mention it was done with the help of a revolving door which is always hilarious.
But of course, after the dinner with the mayor was ruined due to jackson, a feret and a flambe desert and Miley was running to meet Travis, who was leaving the restaurant, it all went down hill. A little girl who had been watching Miley go back at forth between the restaurant and the hall as both miley and hannah actually saw Miley take off the Hannah wig as they went around in the revolving door. Miley’s so shocked she keeps walking around the revolving door clutching the wig….in walks Travis, they spin around the revolving door for a bit (WHY CAN’T MILEY JUST GET OUT OF THE FUCKING REVOLVING DOOR!!) till Travis gets out. They get in a fight, Travis is like “I WAS JUST A GAME TO YOU”…Miley’s Like “*sob” You don’t understand *sob*”. This moment is followed by Billy Ray breaking it off to be with his ‘almost girlfriend’ Lorelei because he knows Miley needs him. So, in a scene that began with some fun with a revolving door and quick costume changes, ends with everyone sitting by themself watching the rain. See, good moment ruined by some silly “intense” scene.
This movie really did seem to move in slow motion….and not just figuratively. Every 5 minutes there seemed to be slow motion.
-Miley taking off the Hannah wig in slow motion
-Miley turning and seeing Travis for the first time in slow motion
-Travis riding a horse in slow motion (very suss looking)
-Miley and Travis jumping into the lake in slow motion
It just made everything drag on and, because they used it for rather ordinary moments, it just made it seem somewhat cheap. And, whilst they were busy emphasising these insignificant moments, they totally glanced over important stuff. Initially Miley wants nothing more than to go back home, she can’t stand being in her old town, then suddenly, after a montage of her and Travis hanging out, she loves it, it made her seem so fickle just like “hehe well i have a boy now soooo…. I LOVE IT HERE!!” thats what i got though. And I suppose there was meant to be this whole sub-plot where developers wanted to turn their little town (i can’t even remember the name of it) into a shopping complex, but that story never really went anywhere until the end where you see them reach their fundraising target but by then you’re thinking “What’s that fundraiser for again”. I think this plot line was just used as an excuse for getting Miley to sing a few times.
I’ll tell you what though Tennessee (sp?) must be real magical, Miley had a friggin moving picture of her and her mum, she must be a wizard. Seriously though that bit was so random, miley’s just looking at a picture of her and her mum and their pet rabbit then suddenly little Miley in the picture starts stroking the rabbit…WTF!?
There were a few times when they showed the fields and mountains completely covered in fog and i know it was for dramatic effect but, a little part of me was hoping Mr Darcy was going to appear, walking through the foggy fields, with his long coat billowing out behind him…..He didn’t =[
I think that Crowley (I FINALLY REMEMBERED IT’S NAME) must be where all the stars go to hide away. Rascall Flatts are apparently best bud’s with the Stewarts family and showed up a few times to sing some songs at grandma’s house. Even Taylor Swift goes there (was it my imagination or didn’t Miley and Taylor like hate each other?). This at least explained to me how the guy who played Travis ended up in a Taylor Swift video.
I’m not sure how i felt about the leading guy Travis, he didn’t really seem to show much personality, just a nice smile and a toolbelt. Most of the time all i could think was “You have such a deep voice, it’s weirding me out”
I was disappointed to find that the regular characters didn’t have much time in the film. Lily had a small part in the beginning of the film and re-appeared for the second half but her role was definately nothing significant. Billy Ray actually had his own plot line which was cool, however there wasn’t much going on with Jackson he just had a few lines here and there, I really wanted to hear about his college life (that’s his very very minor plot, he’s gone to Tennesee for colleg). The most disappointing loss of character was Oliver. Oliver and Rico had a small cameo (yes it was sooo small it only warrants as a cameo) at the beginning of the film. Oliver was gorgeous in his vest and he and Rico got to blow up a cake but i was really shocked that Oliver only had a few lines. I suppose this was meant to be before Oliver and Lily got together, especially since Lily seemed to be hitting on a guy at the very end.
Of course the whole film built up to the Hannah Montana performance at the very end of the film where Hannah reveals her true identity to the town (by whispering over the microphone which was so pointless), she sings The Climb which seems to mend everything. Travis smiles at her, all is well. Billy Ray and Lorelei lock eyes, all is well. There’s the symbolic changing from Hannah’s rinestone mike stand to a plain one, Miley clutches the Hannah wig all through the song and, at the end when Miley starts to walk away claiming she can’t go on now that they all know, the crowd yells out how they won’t tell anyone and to ‘put back on the wig’, finally, after chanting ‘Hannah’, Miley puts back on the wig and sings her final song.
In the end I felt like I’d wasted my time, we went through that whole film, put up with those awkward “intense” moments, put up with those pointless sub-plots, only to come up with “oh well Miley can still have the best of both worlds”……THE MOVIE WAS POINTLESS!!! It ended up exactly where it started except now Miley knew what a magical place Crowely is…..apparently.
Unfortunately my favourite part was actually the credits where there was the montage of characters doing the Hoedown Throwdown, Tyra Banks trying to do it was priceless. This also brought back Oliver and Rico for a bit, it was fantastic seeing Oliver dance….in his vest *sigh*
I’d give this 4…maybeee 5/10. Wouldn’t see it again.

Harry Potter (Spoilers Alert)
Lets get this out of the way first. It was BRILLIANT! I enjoyed it immensely and am very glad it wasn’t a shit fest unlike the last film.
However, naturally, i have a few complaints.
As the woman behind me so eloquently put it,
“They left out some significant chunks of the plot”
Why yes my friend they did. But, unless you have not read the book (which is a very few number of people i’m sure), you were still able to follow along. Some people may have gone
“George and Fred have their own shop? How?Why?When?”
“Harry fancies Ginny, and vice versa? Unheard of?”
“Remus and Tonks got together??WTF!?”
And
“Why would Narcissus (sorry “Mrs Malfoy”, cos people who hadn’t read the book wouldn’t know her name) and Bellatrix Lestrange go to see Snape for that unbreakable promise?”
Of course, people asking these questions would have to refer to the book. Because none of those topic areas were very deeply touched on in this, or any other movie.
Yes there were parts I personally wish had been included (LOTS MORE DRACO) but there were all the crucial moments I feel.
Again I must refer to the woman who sat behind me when she said,
“There was a lot more Draco plot in the book though!”
Again my friend you are right. Throughout the book we were given a much deeper understanding on Draco, who I am sure is one of everybody’s favourite characters. We weren’t even shown the scene where Moaning Myrtle talks to Harry about Draco’s problems.
But I can’t dwell on the lack of Draco too much (even though his part SHOULD’VE been bigger) cos in the end I wouldn’t be happy unless the movie was calle “Draco Malfoy…And The Half Blood Prince”
Dumbledores death was touching, if a bit quick, I love that they were still able to make Snape’s loyalty seem a somewhat mystery even though he did kill Dumbledore. (Draco Note: I loved it when Bellatrix was destroying the great hall and Draco looked back at her as if to say “What have I done???”) The moment where all the students and teachers are crowded around Dumbledores body and they all raise there wands to get rid of the Dark Mark….*sigh* It was brilliant, people really started to cry then.
OMG I can’t believe I forgot this, Opening Scene. Utterly Brilliant!!!(Brilliant is one of my favourite words…can you tell?) Especially where the camera is zooming around London till it blasts into Diagon Alley, great scene, excellently put together.
Because there wasn’t much detail put into the Harry/Ginny relationships, most of their moments together were rather cringe worthy. It just seemed awkward and somewhat wrong. But, like i said, there really is a lot more about that in the book.
The one relationship I felt was done very well was Ron/Hermione. Adorable!
And, wow, when Harry took the liquid luck! Some of the funniest parts of the film
I find it interesting how, when the last movie came out I had thought I would’ve enjoyed the movie better if I hadn’t read the book. However, with this movie I’m glad i’ve read the book because I was able to follow the movie better and enjoy it more.
Anywho that’s about all i have to say i think. I really just wanted to voice my opinions on the move. Like I said though, I loved it, had a great time watching, but i think i’m gunna go read the book so i can get a better Draco fix. 8/10 from me

P.S The Draco/Harry fight scene in the bathroom where they’re all PEWPEWPEWPEW (As ellen put it lol). Great! Draco took off an article of clothing, he cried, he fought, Harry seemingly got away with nearly killing him. It was short but intense. XD
